Research Ethics Regulations

Article 1 (Purpose) These regulations are established to promote research ethics in the academic activities and publications of the Korean Academy of Space Security (KASS), to prevent research misconduct, and to clarify academic responsibilities.

 

Article 2 (Principles of Research Ethics)

1. All researchers shall maintain honesty and integrity in conducting research and preparing manuscripts.

2. Researchers shall not improperly distort, manipulate, fabricate, or falsify research data, results, ideas, or writings.

3. Researchers shall not present the research results of others as their own or commit plagiarism without proper citation and acknowledgment of sources. All relevant publications and sources shall be appropriately cited.

4. Authors shall ensure that submitted manuscripts are original works that do not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others, including the authors’ previously published works.

5. The same research content shall not be submitted to more than one journal simultaneously or published redundantly in two or more academic journals.

6. Individuals who did not contribute to the research shall not be listed as authors, and contributors shall not be excluded from authorship.

7. If errors are discovered during the research process or manuscript preparation, they shall be promptly corrected, withdrawn, and publicly disclosed where appropriate.

 

Article 3 (Author Ethics)

1. Authors must have made substantial contributions to the research, including research design, data analysis, manuscript preparation, or final review.

2. Authors shall take responsibility for their respective contributions and be able to identify the contributions of co-authors.

3. All authors named on the paper are equally accountable for the content of the submitted manuscript or published paper.

4. The corresponding author must ensure that all named co-authors consent to submission, publication, and being listed as co-authors.

5. All authors shall review and approve the final manuscript prior to submission.

6. Authors must not submit previously published work, nor work substantially based on previously published work, either in part or in whole.

 

Article 4 (Research Misconduct)

1. Research misconduct includes the following:

Plagiarism: Using the ideas, results, or writings of others without proper acknowledgment or citation.

2. Fabrication and Falsification: Manipulating, distorting, or altering research data or results.

3. Duplicate Publication: Publishing the same research results in two or more academic journals.

4. Improper Authorship: Including individuals who did not contribute to the research as authors or excluding contributors from authorship.

 

CrossRef JOSS uses CrossRef to screen for unoriginal material. Authors should be aware that their manuscript may be submitted to CrossRef at any point during the peer review or production process.
